Finding leads and sending DMs
Discover Reddit users who fit your product and run direct-message outreach campaigns.
Commenting puts your product in front of everyone reading a thread. A DM puts it in front of the one person who wrote the post, privately. Bazzly turns the authors of matching posts into leads, drafts a personal message for each, and sends it from your own Reddit account through the browser extension. This article covers the Leads page, the DM template, the DM Queue, and how sending actually works.
What a lead is
A lead is a Reddit user who recently wrote a post that scored highly for your product. Bazzly derives leads from opportunities: when it finds a post that fits, the post's author becomes a lead, with the post as the reason. One user is one lead, even if they wrote several matching posts; the extra posts are attached to the same card. Users you have already contacted are never suggested again.
The Leads page
Each lead shows the AI's reason they fit, the post that qualified them, and a match score.
Each card shows the username (linking to their Reddit profile), a Match badge, a one-line Why they're a good fit, and the post they wrote, with Show more to read it. Sort by Best Match or Most Recent. Leads older than seven days are counted at the top with a Skip them link (five-second Undo).
Skip removes a lead you do not want to contact. Write DM opens the composer.
Writing the DM
Draft, personalise, queue. The DM only leaves when you run the extension.
- Draft DM fills your DM template with what this person wrote about. It costs 0.1 credits. Draft again for a different angle.
- Edit freely. The best DMs mention something specific from their post, keep to two or three sentences, and end with a question. Avoid links: Reddit routes DMs with links to spam far more often.
- The settings icon shows the template in use and links to Edit DM Template.
- Add to Queue. The card leaves Leads and appears in the DM Queue.
The DM template
Open Project Settings, then the Leads tab.
Two variables are available. Everything else in the template is sent as written.
The template supports exactly two variables:
- {post_problem_summary}: a summary of the problem or main point of the person's post
- {product_benefit}: the benefit of your product that addresses that point
The default reads: Hey! Saw that you're {post_problem_summary}. I built a tool that {product_benefit}. Want to try it out? The AI only fills the variables; it does not add greetings, signatures or extra sentences, so the template is the message. Type a curly brace to insert a variable. Templates must be 3 to 500 characters, and the editor warns about unknown variables or HTML.
Auto-Queue DMs drafts a DM for every new lead as it arrives, so you only review and send. Set the Minimum Fit Score (85% by default) and which lead classifications qualify. Each auto-queued DM uses 0.1 credits for the draft.
The DM Queue
Queued DMs wait for you to run the extension. Nothing is sent server-side.
Three tabs: Queued, Sent and Failed.
- Queued cards say Sending when you launch chrome extension. You can Edit DM or Cancel DM (a cancelled DM simply disappears from the queue). The banner at the top tells you whether the extension is installed and offers Send N DMs.
- Sent cards show when the DM went out and a View on Reddit button to the recipient's profile.
Sent DMs keep the message and the recipient so you can follow up.
- Failed cards show the error the extension hit and a Requeue button, which puts the DM back in the queue for the next run.
Failures are usually a Reddit page that did not load or a user who cannot receive chats. Requeue and try again.
How sending works
DMs are sent by the Bazzly browser extension from your own Reddit account, inside your browser. Bazzly has no server-side DM sender and never uses warmed-up accounts for DMs. In a run the extension opens each recipient's profile, starts a chat, types the message and sends it, verifying delivery before moving on. It waits 20 to 32 seconds between DMs, skips anyone you already have a conversation with (so you never double-message), skips deleted or suspended users, and pauses itself after three consecutive errors so a broken session cannot burn through your queue.
There is no hard daily cap on DMs, so pace yourself. If your account is new to DMs, keep it to 3 to 5 a day for the first week and increase gradually; Reddit rate-limits chat aggressively on accounts that suddenly start messaging strangers.
What gets replies
- Reference their post specifically. Generic openers get ignored.
- Offer something: a free trial, a specific tip, an answer to what they asked.
- One short message, one question. No links in the first DM.
- Send in their daytime. Queue in the morning, run the extension when Reddit is busy.
- Reply fast when they answer. The DM Queue links straight to the profile.
Frequently asked questions
- Are DMs sent from my own Reddit account?
- Yes, always. The browser extension sends them from the account you are logged into on reddit.com, in your browser. Bazzly never sends DMs through warmed-up accounts and never sends them automatically without you starting a run.
- How much do DMs cost?
- Drafting a DM with AI costs 0.1 credits, including auto-queued drafts. Sending is free. Editing a draft or writing one from scratch costs nothing.
- Why did a lead disappear from the Leads page?
- Leads leave the list as soon as a DM is queued, sent or failed for them, and when you skip them. Find them in the DM Queue under the matching tab.
- Will Bazzly message someone twice?
- No. Before sending, the extension checks for an existing conversation with the user and skips them if one exists. Users you have contacted are never suggested as leads again.
