Reddit image sizes

Sizes marked "official" come from the Reddit Help Center. The others are common sizes that work, because Reddit does not publish one.

The guide

Reddit image sizes, explained

Reddit shows the same banner on very different screens, which is why banners get cropped in surprising ways. Here is how each image is used.

Community banner (desktop)

Moderators can pick a small, medium or large banner: 64, 128 or 192 px tall. The image must be at least 1072 x 128 px, and Reddit suggests making it 4,000 px wide so it fills wide monitors instead of tiling or leaving gaps. Put text and logos in the middle, since the sides are cut off on smaller screens.

Mobile banner

The official Reddit apps use a separate banner of 1600 x 480 px. Uploading it does not change the desktop banner, so it is worth designing both: the mobile banner is taller and shows much more of the image.

Community icon and profile picture

Icons and profile pictures are shown as circles, often very small, next to posts and in search. Use a simple, high-contrast mark rather than a detailed picture or a logo with small text, and keep it centred so the circle does not clip it.

Brand accounts

If you post on Reddit for a product, a recognisable profile picture and banner make your account look established, which helps people trust your comments. It does not replace history: many subreddits still filter new or low-karma accounts, so check yours with the free Reddit Account Analyzer before you start posting.

For a community banner on desktop, Reddit's help center asks for at least 1072 x 128 px and suggests a width of 4,000 px so the banner fills every monitor; a large banner is 192 px tall, so 4000 x 192 px is ideal. Small and medium banners are 64 and 128 px tall. The mobile app uses a separate 1600 x 480 px banner.

Reddit asks for a 256 x 256 px image for the community icon (one help article mentions 300 x 300 px). It is displayed as a circle, so keep the important part of the image away from the corners.

Reddit does not publish exact sizes for profile images. A 256 x 256 px square works well for a profile picture, which is shown as a circle, and 1920 x 384 px (a 5:1 strip) is a common, safe size for a profile banner.

The desktop banner stretches across the full width of the screen, so wider screens show more of it and narrower screens crop the sides. Keep logos and text in the centre: the resizer marks Reddit's minimum banner width (1,072 px) as a safe zone in the middle of a 4,000 px banner.

No. The image is resized on a canvas in your browser and downloaded straight to your device. Nothing is sent to Bazzly.

Looking the part is step one. Showing up is step two.

Bazzly finds the Reddit threads where people ask for a product like yours and drafts replies that read like a person, not an ad.
