Reddit Formatting Tool

Write Reddit posts and comments with a live preview. Bold, quotes, spoilers, tables and a character counter, all in one place.

Preview (how Reddit shows it)

Honest question for anyone running a small SaaS: how do you keep track of bugs reported in support?

What I've tried so far:

  1. A shared spreadsheet (nobody updates it)
  2. Tagging tickets in the help desk
  3. A weekly "bug sweep" meeting

The problem isn't finding bugs, it's remembering them.

Reddit counts every character, Markdown symbols included. Paste the Markdown into Reddit's Markdown editor, which you can switch to from the composer's formatting options. Everything stays in your browser.

Why use it

Format once, post with confidence

What you see in the preview is what Reddit shows.

See it before you post

A live preview that renders Reddit Markdown, including the Reddit-only bits: spoilers, superscript and tables.

Never hit the limit

Live counters for the 300-character title, 10,000-character comment and 40,000-character post limits.

Private and free

Everything runs in your browser. No signup, no limits, nothing stored.

How it works

Formatted in three steps

1

Write or paste

Type your post or comment, or paste a draft. Pick comment or post for the right limit.

2

Format with one click

Select text and use the toolbar for bold, quotes, spoilers, lists, links and tables.

3

Copy into Reddit

Copy the Markdown and paste it into Reddit's Markdown editor. It looks like the preview.

The guide

Reddit formatting, explained

Good formatting is the difference between a wall of text nobody reads and a post people upvote. Here is how Reddit Markdown works, and where it trips people up.

Rich text editor or Markdown?

On desktop, Reddit's composer has formatting buttons that insert the formatting for you, and a Markdown mode where you type the symbols yourself. Markdown is faster once you know it, works the same everywhere and is what you paste from a draft. The mobile apps also understand Markdown typed by hand.

Paragraphs and line breaks

The most common Reddit formatting mistake: pressing Enter once does not start a new line. Markdown joins the lines into one paragraph. Press Enter twice to start a new paragraph, or end the line with two spaces for a line break inside the paragraph. Lists and quotes need an empty line before them too.

Quotes, links and spoilers

Quote with "> " at the start of the line, link with [text](url), and hide spoilers with >!text!<. When you quote the post you are replying to, keep it short: quote the one sentence you answer, then answer it. It makes long threads easier to follow.

Formatting that gets upvoted

Long posts that do well on Reddit share a shape: a one-line summary up top, short paragraphs, a bulleted list or a small table for the details, and a question at the end. Bold one key sentence, not ten. If you are mentioning your own product, keep it to a plain line with a disclosure; heavy formatting around a product link reads like an ad.

Reddit uses Markdown. Wrap text in **double asterisks** for bold, *single asterisks* for italic and ~~double tildes~~ for strikethrough. Start a line with > for a quote, * or 1. for a list, and # for a heading. On desktop you can also use the formatting buttons in the composer, or switch it to the Markdown editor and paste Markdown directly.

Start the line with a greater-than sign and a space: "> the text you are quoting". Every line you want inside the quote needs its own >. Leave a blank line after the quote before your reply, or your reply becomes part of the quote.

Put the link text in square brackets and the URL in round brackets right after it, with no space: [Bazzly](https://www.bazzly.ai). A bare URL also turns into a link on its own. Many subreddits remove comments with links, so check the rules before linking to your own site.

Wrap the text in >! and !<, like >!the butler did it!<. The text shows as a dark bar until a reader clicks or taps it. There must be no space between the symbols and the text.

In Markdown a single line break is ignored and the lines join into one paragraph. Leave an empty line between paragraphs, or end a line with two spaces to force a new line inside the same paragraph.

Post titles can be up to 300 characters, text post bodies up to 40,000 characters and comments up to 10,000 characters. The limits count every character, including spaces and Markdown symbols. The counter under the editor tracks both.

No. The editor and preview run in your browser. Nothing you write is sent to Bazzly or stored.

Well formatted. Now put it in front of buyers.

Bazzly finds the Reddit threads where people ask for a product like yours, drafts the reply, and posts it while the thread is still young.
